Samoan Language Week

Samoan Language Week 2016

The theme for this year’s Samoan language week was ‘ E felelei manu ae ma’au I o latou ofaga’   ‘Birds migrate to environments where they  survive and thrive’

Many students shared their migration histories, and their personal stories, and once again, we had a busy week of celebration, including lolly lei making, pasifika story reading, and a Pasifika disco, topped off and an impressive performance on Friday, by our Pasifika group!

Many thanks To Whaea Marina, and Whaea Jeanette, for their creativity, their leadership, and their support.   What a taonga we have at Woodstock!

What a wonderful week of celebration we had!Our theme for this year was tautua nei mo sou manuia a taeaoServe now for a better tomorrow.Thank you to Whaea Marina and to Sau for their creativity, their leadership and support of our Pasifika group. We enjoyed sharing phrases of the day, making lolly lei, Samoan drumming, and dancing the siva, during our lunchtime activities.

Finally, we ended the week with a colourful and vibrant display of performance from our students, with a few special guests in our Assembly audience! Wonderful to see it all come to life!

Sadly, Sau has indicated that she will be leaving us at the end of this term, and we owe her a BIG THANK YOU for her knowledge, and her wonderful encouragement of our performers!
